David Welling is a vice president of marketing and advisor practice management with Schwab Institutional®. In this role, he spearheads Schwab Institutional’s GrowthPoint® practice management group that provides advisors with best practices and tools in the areas of business planning, marketing and business development, human capital, transitions planning, technology best practices and compliance. Grounded in quantitative and qualitative benchmarking research with thousands of advisory firms, as well as one-on-one consultations with advisors, Schwab Institutional’s practice management group specializes in helping advisors create a vision, develop a disciplined strategy and implement proven best practices.
In his 11 years with Schwab Institutional, Mr. Welling has held various positions in strategy, marketing, client communications and business development.
Before joining Schwab, Mr. Welling was a management consultant for Bain & Company, where he advised clients in several industries on corporate strategy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in business from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
